The Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM), the Political Alliance for Change (PAC) and the People for Change inform national and international public opinion of the deliberate choice of the outgoing Cameroonian regime to keep mysterious and obscure the terms of the Convention signed on 9 May 2025 between ELECTIONS CAMEROON (ELECAM), the public body in charge of organising elections in Cameroon, and the United Nations Organisation(UNO).
Several days after the signing of this Convention, and in the absence of any official communication from ELECAM on the subject, the CRM informed public opinion on 14 May 2025 of this curious initiative by ELECAM, taken a few weeks before the electoral body was to be convened for the presidential election in October 2025.
The next day, on 15 May 2025, the President of the Electoral Council published a Press Release which deliberately remained silent on the terms of the Agreement between ELECAM and the UN. In other words, despite this Press Release, we are still not informed of the content of the Convention signed on 9 May 2025.
The provisions of the Constitution and the Electoral Code, on the basis of which the presidential election is organised, are known to Cameroon’s political parties and voters. Only the content of this mysterious Convention, which is intended to apply during the forthcoming presidential election, remains unknown to public opinion.
The CRM calls on the various Presidential Candidates, who share the demand for a transparent election, to denounce this Convention signed on the sly and to demand its publication so that the Cameroonian People may, at last, become aware of it.
The CRM, the PAC and the People of Change remain seized of this matter and will not allow the People of Cameroon to be robbed of the results of the presidential election next October.
