I learned with shock of the savage assault of the whistle blower, PAUL CHOUTA, which occurred on the night of March 9 to 10, 2022 in the city of Yaoundé.

On my own behalf and on behalf of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (CRM), I send him our best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Pending the outcome of credible and urgent investigations that are required, Mr Paul CHOUTA would, according to his testimony, have been kidnapped by a group of individuals determined to assassinate him, who would have taken him by force out of the city, where they inflicted on him cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment.

It should be noted that this is the third time that Paul CHOUTA has suffered, in practically the same conditions, such an attack. No investigation has been successful to date on his previous attacks, to determine the culprits and, if necessary, the sponsors. Finally, the unfortunate will only have had “respite” during his years of arbitrary incarceration in the central and then the main prison of Yaoundé.

The fate of Paul CHOUTA is now in the hands of the authorities, which have the obligation to ensure his safety by all means, given the recurrence of the attacks of which he is the victim; all the more so since the police and the justice system, which had been so quick to keep him in custody, in violation of the rights of the defence, in a scandalous affair, were strangely silent in the face of these repeated attacks.

It is an obligation for the government to quickly find and severely punish the aggressors of Paul CHOUTA and their possible sponsors whatever their rank or position.
